Thanks SheilaJules - I'm sure that local knowledge is much appreciated! If you want to write reviews for each one - or maybe just your couple of favourites - that would be great too, that way when people look at the restaurant page they can see the recommendation.

Does anyone else from New Farm have any others to add?

I know of a gem of a restaurant called disoriental Restaurant. The food is modern Australian and is sooo fresh and superb. The service is always friendly and we have been back several times. I highly recommend this place if you want great food and friendly service.

The following cafe in New Farm sounds fantastic, I found this review on the new schweppes website which has some great restaurant and bar reviews for each state:

Celebrate the glory of food at the New Farm Deli

It is hard to believe that one of Brisbane’s most vibrant cafes is attached to a deli and overlooking a car park…but it is! As a veritable institution in Brisbane, The New Farm Deli has been servicing crowds for thirty years, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.

The current owner is Tanya Manteit-Mulcahy. She’s been running The Deli for nearly five years, and hasn’t changed a thing since she took over the business. “It was perfect just the way it was” she says. As a testament to the quality of the food, Tanya tells us that when she was in hospital having her first child, she had her best friend bring her food from The Deli every single day. “The Italian foccacia and the pollo funghi were the only things I could eat, so somebody had to deliver them to me every day” she says.

Tanya says that when she was presented with an opportunity to buy the business, she immediately left behind her career as a pathology scientist and joined forces with her husband to run the dynamic cafe.

The food and the coffee are integral elements of the success of this busy eatery. Their Vittoria blend is strong and rich and they only ever use one and a half shots for a regular cup. They also train their baristas to make coffee just the way their regulars expect it. Their food is fantastic too. The portions are generous and most produce is sourced fresh from local markets and suppliers.

One of their signature dishes is The Deli Marinara and it is a combination of mussels, prawns, baby octopus and anchovies in a chilli, garlic and olive oil base. The dish is finished with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and is really one of the best marinaras that you will ever eat.

The New Farm Deli also does a great range of foccacias to satisfy the lunch crowd and their brekkies are delicious. The deli has an amazing array of products including many imported Italian specialties that you won’t find any where else.
